Know Before You Go: Early Menopause Symptoms

When it comes to menopause, many women believe they will not have to worry about noticing the symptoms until they are in their 50’s. But, unfortunately, some women suffer from early menopause and recognizing the symptoms can help a woman to better understand what is happening and not jump to conclusions like a late in life pregnancy or something far worse.

The Most Common Symptoms

The most common early menopause symptoms are always related to the monthly cycle. Women will often see a reduction in the amount of time their cycle lasts each month, a reduction in the amount of months per year the cycle is present or a cessation of the cycle all together. Most often in early menopause symptoms the cessation is thought to be a pregnancy and sends the woman for a fright if they are not ready for another child.

After menstrual cessation, early menopause symptoms will vary from woman to woman but will include: Infertility, Hot Flashes, Night Sweats, Vaginal Dryness and Mood Swings.

When a woman feels as though she may be experiencing early menopause symptoms, her doctor will run a few hormonal tests to determine if the early menopause symptoms are in fact a precursor to menopause or some other condition.

Early menopause symptoms can occur as young as the 20’s and are unstoppable. Once a woman finds herself experiencing early menopause symptoms, she will inevitably go through menopause and be unable to have children in the future.

The causes of early menopause will vary just as much as the early menopause symptoms. Autoimmune disorders and chromosome irregularities can be behind early menopause symptoms that are not related to surgery. Surgery, on the other hand, is the number one most common reason for early menopause symptoms.

Early menopause symptoms brought on by surgery are not something that happens gradually. A hysterectomy is an instant trip from normal hormonal function to a cessation of all hormonal function. A woman will experience early menopause symptoms as soon as recovery from the hysterectomy and are often placed on hormone replacement therapy in recovery in order to help the woman to heal more effectively during the surgery recovery time.

Life can throw twists and turns at a woman and when early menopause symptoms are rearing their ugly heads, the time has come to visit that gynecologist. For some women, the early menopause symptoms are a sign that a painful fight is over and for others the early menopause symptoms are a clear indication that their infertility has a cause. Either way, early menopause symptoms pop up in the female body when menopause is on the way.
